A 2016 Approach to Having the Best Staff Possible

The times are changing. Talent acquisition is no longer synonymous with familial connections. The old way of hiring just isn't as effective anymore. There are new, more open-minded ways of finding and hiring the best staff possible, no matter what the job is.

Diversity

Hiring a diverse staff of workers is sadly a very new happening in this country. We still have a long way to go, but over the last few years, fairer ways of hiring people of all races, genders, and sexualities have been developed. According to McKinsey research, companies that hire more gender-diverse staff are 15% more likely to outperform other companies. Not only that, but ethnically-diverse companies are 53% more productive than non-diverse companies.

On-Boarding

Having a successful on-boarding program is not only great for new employees who are being trained on the various aspects of the job, but for retaining talented employees down the line. Employees are 58% more likely to be with a company after three years if they underwent a successful on-boarding program when they were first hired. Recognition

Despite what some may think or say, people want to be recognized. They want to be told "good job" when they did something well. It's important to be genuine during these recognition programs as well. If you are giving fake praise to your employees, they will more than likely pick up on that and their happiness levels will subsequently decrease.

Having the best staff possible takes a lot of work. You have to first have successful talent acquisition of a diverse staff, then train them and get them ready for their job duties, and then provide positive and genuine feedback and recognition when prompted. It is difficult, but having a great staff can be done!
