States, behind only Boston. A designated free trade zone, San Diego’s strategic geography has given rise to a robust

The San Diego metropolitan area, which encompasses most notably La Jolla and Carlsbad, stretches from the southern border
of Orange and Riverside counties through border control and into the outskirts of Tijuana, Mexico. These days, San Diego’s
greatest challenge is in solving their negative net migration, which has led much of the talent pool to move to Riverside
and beyond due to skyrocketing real estate prices. Some have chosen to brave the daily commute. Others have left the area completely.
